About

Hey, I'm Kahja! First of all, to understand my obsession with empowering woman-owned small businesses, we’ll have to start from a cupcake shop.

From cupcakes to iradicating boring websites for women-owned small businesses.

Meet the Designer at Moonbeam Creative

I had stumbled into this tiny, local cupcake shop, popped a cupcake in my mouth and went to sugar heaven. Seriously, it was SO GOOD, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. But when I went online to check out the other flavors I wanted to try next (Because I was already planning my next visit lol) I was sorely disappointed…

The Origin Story

The website was terrible.

I’m not good at mincing words so I’ll just say it:

It looked like it had just fallen out of the late 90’s, the visuals were boring and all over the place, there were blurry pictures awkwardly jutting out in front of important text, and the menu items (The reason I came to the site) were overlapping each other in a weird text soup, so I could barely even read what was there.

Needless to say, it was not impressive.

The bakery's website...

But then I realized something. The only reason I found the cupcake shop was because I happened to be in the area and walked right in. If I had Googled this shop (Which is how most of us find anything new), I would’ve spent 1 second taking in the TOTAL AND UTTER CHAOS and clicked right out.

I never would’ve experienced the otherworldly sugary goodness of those cupcakes. I wouldn’t be planning to hire this extraordinarily talented woman to make a custom cake for my next event.

The realization

And I wondered how many other sugar-enthusiasts saw the website first before experiencing the shop first hand…? How many potential clients saw the website and saw a business who doesn’t care about quality? A business that doesn’t know what it’s doing? A business that can’t be trusted?

I simply could not accept such a wide gap between the quality and heart of this lovely woman’s bakery and the terror of her website. I had to fix it.

And the rest is history!

The Potential

To empower them to believe that they can sell their services online on the strength of their incredibly magnetic brand strategy.

I became a brand & web designer to help other female business owners.

To fill them with the confidence to tell potential clients, “Yes, you can just check that out on my website” without cringing.

To finally feel aligned with their business.

To achieve a level of financial success they wouldn’t have had access to without a strong brand (YES, raise those prices, girl!!)

To finally feel like an accomplished, legitimate business owner.

Yes, THAT is my vision for you when I pour every ounce of inspiration, results-driven strategy and client-attracting gorgeousness into your branding and website.

The goal

So now you know my brand story. Now I want to know about you. Tell me your super hero origin story! What got you into becoming a business owner? Tell me your story!

I started because my cousin needed a photographer for her wedding. I always loved snapping pics of my family, so it was a no-brainer. When her friends and co-workers started recommending me to other people, I realized I had something here. Now I snap people's memories for a living and I love it!

– Amirah, Photographer

I'm a hair nerd, so I became a hairstylist lol. I just love how it feels and how I make other people feel when they walk out with a beautiful hairstyle. I also like teaching people how to keep their hair healthy, because I saw a lack of actual haircare in the salons where I live. Just lifting women up, one slay at a time.

– KEISHA, HAIRSTYLIST

I started as an employee at an agency. I saw there were so many people I could be helping with their businesses, but I didn't have the freedom to do what I really wanted to do at my job. So I built my own business and three years later, finally quit my 9-5! Never looked back.
